There’s a been a lot going on in the last few days.
Some positive. Some perhaps make you wonder about “What happens next?”.
It’s easy to get consumed by the news cycle. To have spirits dropped by the next doom story.
So here’s a great bit of advice by John Muir:
I am losing precious days. I am degenerating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains to learn the news
John Muir is a bit of hero of mine. Born in Scotland, living most of his life in the US. A thinker, an engineer, an entrepreneur. But most importantly, a man who knew the importance of turning away from the demands of modern life and finding refuge and reality in wild landscapes. Thanks to him, we have the national parks in the US and here in the UK. He even went wild camping with presidents!
What are you going to do this weekend to switch off from the news cycle and to reconnect with things that really matter – family, friends and the amazing wild spaces that we have to enjoy. Go and find the real news!
Thanks Arnab for your post on LinkedIn that inspired this post.
